We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding partnership and as our first joint project, we are pleased to announce that we will launch the Malaysian Business Ethics Book Production Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Ethics Book Production Committee”) in November 2023, and publish the Malaysia Business Ethics Book (hereinafter referred to as the “Ethics Book”).

ALEPS is a society comprises former graduates of Japanese universities and technical colleges who were direct beneficiaries under the 1982 Look East Policy program, which the Malaysian government aimed at developing Malaysia’s social and economic development by learning from Japan. It was established in 1988 after the return of the first batch of graduates from Japan. Today, ALEPS has more than 12,000 members and works as a “KAKEHASHI”, a bridge to promote bilateral relations between Malaysia and Japan.

The Ethics Book Production Committee collaborates with the Japan Business Ability Certification Association (hereinafter referred to as “JBAA”) and utilizes the content of the Japanese Business Ability Test developed by JBAA to promote Japanese values and business manners. We will create a business ethics book that incorporates business culture for Malaysians.

The eeevo group has been collaborating with JBAA since 2018. Initially, we provided a textbook that mainly focused on Japanese business etiquette, but since there are some business etiquettes unique to Japan, where the information was handled might not fit with the business culture in Malaysia. Therefore, This time, we will create a new business etiquette book that carefully selects Japanese business etiquette information that can be used in Malaysia, and also incorporates Malaysia’s unique business culture.

The Ethic Book Production Committee is made up of the following members.

<Members List>
-Isrami Bin Ismail (President, Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS))
-Prof Dr Ali Selamat (Dean, Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT))
-Datuk Zulkifli Malek (Founder, Katana Cricle)
-Associate Professor Dr Zoraida Mustafa(President, Malaysia Japanese Language Instructors Society (MAJLIS))
-Suzool Hilmi Suradi (Deputy President, ALEPS)
-Akiko Nishio (Lecturer, AtoZ Language Centre Sdn Bhd)
-Noritaka Araki(Director, eeevo malaysia Sdn Bhd)
-Ng Chee Hock (Director, JM Business Ethics Consultancy Sdn Bhd)
-Lee Swee Chee (General Manager, eeevo malaysia Sdn Bhd)

The Business Etiquette Book is scheduled to be published in early 2024.

After the Business Etiquette Book is published, we plan to use it at educational institutions such as universities in Malaysia, such as UTHM, with which we recently announced a partnership, and to provide training and other services to Malaysian companies.

This collaboration marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on sustainable cooperation. JMBEC and ALEPS will contribute to building the foundation for sustainable cooperation between Malaysia and Japan.

Announcement of Industry-Academia Collaboration between JMBEC and UTHM

JM Business Ethics Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter referred to as “JMBEC”), a group company under eeevo, has concluded an LOI (Letter of Intent: Basic Agreement) with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (hereinafter referred to as “UTHM”) on 21st November 2023. UTHM is a public university located in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. UTHM was formerly known as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP), which was established on September 16, 1993. The core business of PLSP then was to train polytechnic academic staff to become knowledgeable and skillful in various engineering fields. The training institute was jointly administered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Ministry of Education Malaysia. On April 12, 1996, PLSP was upgraded to Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO). This promotion was acknowledgement of the institution’s excellence in producing human resources for technical education.  On September 27, 2000, it was renamed as Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO) to recognize its contribution in the development of science and technology as well as its role in helping the nation to achieve its aspirations. It was then officially renamed to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) on March 2, 2007.

JMBEC and UTHM will take an active partnership and implement programs for mutual benefit through industry-academia collaboration. This includes joint training of staff and researchers, exchange of expertise, and other areas of cooperation that are mutually agreed upon by both parties.

Assoc. Prof. Dr.AZMI BIN ABDUL LATIFF of UTHM said, “Learning about the culture of different communities is a means to increase intercultural understanding and competency, as lack of intercultural competence can lead to many problems. This is a very good experience for students to understand intercultural competence before entering the workplace. Japanese culture has many unique aspects that students may lack an understanding of. Today, we sign this LOI in order to build a good partnership with JMBEC, that could achieve much from this partnership, which will benefit both parties.”

At the same time, Mr. ISRAMI BIN ISMAIL, JMBEC’s Director said, “Japan is well known for the good manners of Japanese society. Therefore, through this agreement between JMBEC and UTHM, we hope to disseminate Japanese business etiquette, which has been made into a syllabus, to introduce to Malaysian university students. In addition, there are many Japanese companies around UTHM, so we will use UTHM as a base to spread business etiquette to Japanese company employees. ”

This collaboration marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on sustainable cooperation. JMBEC and UTHM will contribute to building a foundation for sustainable cooperation that will also benefit the broader academic community.
